Fostering Community and Education through the Ceramic Arts
State Clay was founded to create a gathering place for artists to share, educate, and create.
Wood firing ceramics is a unique and ancient process that requires multiple individuals working together to be successful. Through this collective process professionals, students, and amateurs alike will be able to share their experience and educate one another around a common goal.
Collaborative Learning
This kiln was designed and built by Simon Levin, a professional potter and Fulbright Scholar, and his apprentice Mike Tavares. The design is unique to our region, and the project is singular in it’s aspirations of educational outcomes for its participants.
Who Do we Impact
State Clay’s focus is bringing together professionals, students, and amateurs alike. We have had particpants as young as pre-teens, and as experienced as life long professional potters. We believe creating an environment of education for a wide source will create life long learners around the creative arts, and will contribute to the enhancement of Wyoming’s Creative Economy.
Donors and Partners
State Clay was made possible by the generosity of kind donors, collaboration with local partners, and the invaluable contribution of volunteers dedicated to bringing this site to life.
“Without the support of our donors and community partners in Sheridan, this far reaching project would never have been realized.”
— Stephen Mullins, Owner and Operator
